Are you starting a new business partnership ?  Which of you will do the sales?

The correct answer is everyone in the company.  Just in case you thought to yourself that you have a great product and it will sell on its own, let me make it clear. It doesn't. They will not come when you build it. You have to work at it.

Are you starting a new business partnership ?  Which of you will do the sales?

The correct answer is everyone in the company.  Just in case you thought to yourself that you have a great product and it will sell on its own, let me make it clear. It doesn't. They will not come when you build it. You have to work at it.

You are not good at sales?  Not a fast talker? Good those days of selling are gone. Now get over your fear of selling, get a book, go to a class on sales and get with it.  You are an entrepreneur.  If you think you can delegate sales and expect to be a successful entrepreneur, you are wrong.  You might as well sign over the business now and go get a job.  For a business venture to succeed and mutually equitable for everyone involved, all principals of the business have to get intimidly involved in the sales aspect of the business.  That's how important sales is to you and to your company.

As founders and owners of the company, all partners should be fully involved in the sales process.  They must overcome any reservations about selling as soon as possible.  It does not matter if you have a partner who is strong in sales.  You have to, have to, have to, make acquiring sales skill your top priority and with the utmost urgency.  What about product development?  Engineering and coding?  That's all good and important but you must first be a sales person.  OK I think I beat the dead horse enough so go out and sell.

Why is sales so important?  Because that's how you make money.  Making money is the purpose of your business.  Put it this way.  If your fantstic product can't be sold, what good will it be to you or anyone else?

If you are starting a not-for-profit organization, and think that you don't have to sell, think again.  You have to sell your idea or the cause to the supporters.  You have to sell no matther what type of organization you are starting.

I moved here from a very well known Executive Office Suite because I got tired of the "nickel and dime" game. Now that I'm at Grace Corporate Park I can focus on my business and not have to worry about how much I'm going be charged on my next bill.
